ArcheMedX and the University of Virginia School of Medicine Announce Collaboration And Launch First Education Series In Fetal Cardiology

The Office of Continuing Medical Education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine (UVA) announced today a collaborative relationship with ArcheMedX to deliver innovative, comprehensive continuing medical education (CME) programs powered by the ArcheViewer, a data-driven, e-learning architecture. Their three-part series of online educational programs will launch during the American College of Cardiology’s 63rd Annual Scientific Session and Expo (ACC14) with a specific focus on improving, diagnosis, and treatment management strategies in Fetal Cardiology.UVA & ArcheMedX Program in Fetal Cardiology

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics approximately 18 out of every 10,000 babies are born with a critical congenital heart defect (CCHD). In Virginia alone, there are 100,000 births per year resulting in 800 cases of congenital heart disease (CHD) with almost 400 babies having severe disease requiring intervention during infancy. This three-part online series provides independent, evidence-based learning activities on topics such as basic fetal physiology and left heart and right heart pathophysiology that are designed to help improve congenital heart disease detection rates in obstetrics and maternal fetal medicine offices through fetal cardiac screening processes.

By measuring the learning actions taken by clinicians as they consume content delivered through the ArcheViewer, UVA Faculty and Educational Planners can rapidly assess the effectiveness of each program in real-time and continuously refine content to “nudge” learners in the right direction and to guide them to reflect and apply critical lessons to practice.
