ArcheMedX and the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians Address Gaps in Treatment for Depression by Expanding the MDD e-Learning Program to Physicians Across The U.S.

All licensed physicians and patient-centered medical home teams can now access 10 connected and accredited e-learning activities that help to improve diagnosis and treatment of Major Depressive Disorder

Trenton, NJ (October 8, 2014) ‐ The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP) and ArcheMedX announced the launch of a new 10 part e-learning program designed to address educational and practice gaps in the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), which remains a leading cause of disability throughout the world and currently afflicts 7% of the U.S. population every year. Given the continued difficulty in effectively treating patients who suffer from MDD, NJAFP and ArcheMedX have developed a more interactive and impactful online learning program that will assist physicians across the U.S. in more accurately diagnosing and effectively treating MDD.

The 10-part web based curriculum, accredited with AAFP Prescribed credit for family physicians, was designed in coordination with seven constituent chapters of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). This innovative educational series offers family physicians, internists, and patient-centered medical home teams an entirely new way to connect learning to practice by diving deeper into the “Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder” through an interactive, self-directed learning experience powered by the ArcheViewer.MDD_self_reg(2)

As Ray Saputelli, EVP/CEO at NJAFP explains, “We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our MDD educational series in continued partnership with ArcheMedX and with the support of our fellow AAFP constituent chapters. Together, we are improving the diagnosis and treatment of MDD by offering every family physician across the U.S. a far simpler and more engaging way to acquire new knowledge and apply critical lessons to patient care.”

Clinicians who participate in the education series will have access to a personalized and structured set of learning tools that enable each learner to archive relevant lessons to their personal ‘learning stream’. As learners engage in any of the 10 accredited CME activities they can:

  • take, sync, share, and archive their own notes;
  • set personal reminders that will be delivered via a spaced-based reminder system to maximize recall and action;
  • submit questions to faculty for further discussion and reflection;
  • and quickly search through and view relevant resources (i.e., journal articles, clinical studies, patient education tools, etc.) that have been carefully selected by faculty.

ArcheMedX is delighted to extend its partnership with the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians. As physicians and patient-centered medical home teams turn increasingly to e-learning programs to save time and accelerate access to critical information, collaborations such as ours are providing the personalized tools and knowledge they need to improve care”, said Joel Selzer, Co-Founder & CEO of ArcheMedX.

Access to all ten activities is available starting today and clinicians can register (free of charge) using this link (register here). AAFP constituent chapters who wish to provide program access to their members can activate their own information page on the chapter website. To learn more about how your AAFP constituent chapter and members can participate, please contact Ray Saputelli, Executive Vice President of the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians.
